About the Dahlsens Gippsland All Stars Program
The Dahlsens Gippsland All Stars is a representative program available to aspiring athletes registered with any club in the Gippsland region, focused on developing young talent in both football and netball across the region.
Founded in 2021, the Gippsland All Stars program was established to offer junior football players in the Gippsland region a structured pathway for skill development and competitive play. In 2025, netball was introduced to the program, broadening its reach and giving young athletes the opportunity to develop their netball skills in a competitive, structured environment alongside football. This expansion enhances the program's ability to support a wider range of athletes.
Operating annually from March to July, the Gippsland All Stars program serves as a platform for the region's most talented athletes to enhance their skills and elevate their competitive standards. The program's carefully structured pathway aims to foster the growth of future leaders in both sport and community, ensuring that young players receive the training and guidance necessary to succeed at higher levels of competition.
Program Structure
The Dahlsens Gippsland All Stars program is divided into four regions: Eastern Gippsland, Latrobe Valley, Southern Gippsland, and Western Gippsland. Each region competes in both football and netball, with athletes selected through a competitive trial process held annually in March. Following the selection of squads, training sessions are scheduled once a fortnight, ensuring that athletes have ample time to hone their skills and develop their team dynamics before the competitive season begins.
From April to June, athletes will compete in a series of matches, culminating in the Grand Final in July, where the top two teams from each sport will face off to determine the regional champions. This final event not only highlights the competitive spirit of the program but also serves as a celebration of the development and achievements of the athletes throughout the season.
Age Groups and Pathways
The Dahlsens Gippsland All Stars program caters to both football and netball players. Football athletes compete in the 13s, 14s, and 15s age groups, along with a dedicated girls’ team, providing a comprehensive pathway for both male and female players. Netball athletes, introduced in 2025, will compete in the 14s and 15s age groups, offering a competitive environment for aspiring netballers in the region.
Beyond the immediate competition, the Gippsland All Stars program plays a key role in providing players with a clear pathway to elite representative opportunities. Football players are given the chance to progress into the V/Line Cup and the Gippsland Power Talent Pathway, while netball athletes also benefit from the program’s strong connections to higher-level competition and player development pathways.
Coach Development and Support
Integral to the success of the Gippsland All Stars program is its emphasis on coach development. The program collaborates with a range of esteemed partners, including Gippsland Power Football Club, Gippsland Stars Netball Club, and Hawthorn Football Club, to ensure coaches have access to ongoing professional development. This investment in coach education guarantees that athletes receive high-quality mentoring and guidance from skilled professionals committed to nurturing the next generation of talent.
